Appeal after convict fails to return from day release

Police are appealing for information after a man failed to return to prison following a period of day release.

Thomas Cawley, aged 37, was last seen at 8am on Thursday 19 March. He did not return to HMP Sudbury at the required time of 4pm that day.

Cawley is currently serving a 12-year sentence for offences including arson and robbery.

He is described as being of medium build, with short brown hair and green eyes. He has a tattoo of the name “Tiana” on his left hand, and the name and dates “Anthony Collins 1980–2002” on his right arm.

When last seen, he was wearing navy blue joggers, a light grey coat with dark patches around the collar, and light-coloured trainers.

He is known to have links to Mansfield, Sheffield, Rotherham and Lincolnshire.

Anyone who has seen Cawley or has information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Derbyshire Police on 101 quoting reference 884 of 19 March.
