Detectives are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal road traffic collision on the M1 motorway.
Police received a call at 5:34 pm on Sunday, 1 December reporting a collision involving a pedestrian and a DAF livestock carrier – which was being used to transport horses – on the southbound carriageway close to junction 21.
The pedestrian, a man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver, passengers, and the horses in the vehicle were not injured.
The carriageway was closed between junctions 22 and 21 to allow for a full examination of the scene.
Detective Constable Louise Hough, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision, the pedestrian, or the vehicle involved before the collision and has not yet spoken to police.
“Alternatively, anyone who was travelling along the M1, close to junction 21, at the time of the collision, please check your dashcam – you may have captured footage that could be useful to the investigation.”
