Appeal after teenager dies in road collision

Police in Ilkeston are appealing for dash cam footage and information after a fatal collision on Sunday evening.

The incident happened at 10.30pm on 24 July when a grey Fiat Punto left the road and collided with a tree in Lower Stanton Road.

An 18-year-old man, a passenger in the car, was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died a short time later.

Police said:

‘His family have been made aware and they are being supported by specialist officers, our thoughts go out to them at this sad time.

‘Another passenger, an 18-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital.

‘A 19-year-old man, who was driving, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

‘He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

‘We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, those driving nearby with dash cam installed, or those living in the area with private CCTV to contact us if they can help with our investigation.
