Armed police arrest man after hours-long standoff in Nottingham city

A man has been arrested following an hours-long police incident in Nottingham which led to the closure of Ilkeston Road.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to an address in Ilkeston Road, Radford, at 10.55am on Friday 2 October following reports that a man was in possession of a knife.

Police said officers remained at the scene while attempts were made to engage with a man inside the property.

The road was closed while the incident was ongoing and members of the public were asked to avoid the immediate area.

In an update at around 4.30pm, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that a 43-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

The force also confirmed that Ilkeston Road had reopened.
