Police recovered cannabis and a knife when they searched a car following a routine stop.
Officers spotted the Audi A6 being driven in a suspicious manner in Western Boulevard, Aspley at around 10.50pm on Monday 9 August and moved to investigate.
Once the car had stopped, police searched the vehicle and recovered two bags of cannabis and a knife.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of class B drugs, driving while under the influence of drugs and possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident.
Nottinghamshire Police is now working hard to investigate the circumstances.
Inspector Gordon Fenwick, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers did a fantastic job to trust their instincts and investigate a car that was being driven suspiciously.
“The recovery of drugs and a knife is really positive as it means that they cannot be used in further criminal actions.
“To have made an arrest in connection with the find is also very positive and we will be thoroughly investigating this case.
“Driving while intoxicated is not only incredibly dangerous for the driver but it puts members of the public at risk. It is totally unacceptable and we will always take appropriate action against anyone who is found to have broken the law in this way.”
The arrest comes as Nottinghamshire Police announced that knife offences fell by 15 per cent in the last year. The fall is attributed to the force’s ongoing commitment to tackling knife crime through initiatives such as two dedicated knife crime teams and ongoing work with partners to prevent incidents.
