Arrest after man stabbed in Sneinton

A man has been arrested after reports of a stabbing in Sneinton.

Police were called to Lower Eldon Street at 5am this morning (16 August) after a disagreement between two men, who had been socialising together.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody.

A 37-year-old man has been taken to hospital with a stomach injury which is not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.

A cordon remains in place as evidence is gathered.

DI Ian Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I hope the news of this swift arrest will provide assurance to local residents, who will be understandably concerned.

“Both the victim and the suspect are known to each other. We are not looking for anybody else in connection with this incident and strongly believe that there is no risk to the wider public.”
