A suspect was arrested moments after a man was stabbed in in a city centre street.
The victim, a man in his twenties, was attacked in Milton Street, Nottingham, shortly before 5.40am this morning (Sunday).
He remains in a serious condition in hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threating.
A 19-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards in nearby Mansfield Road. He was detained on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.
Detective Constable Alan Prentice, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This assault left a young man in hospital with a stab wound to his chest.
“Our investigation is still at an early stage and we are working hard to establish exactly what happened.
“We are working in the area to gather evidence and would also like to speak to any witnesses who have yet to come forward. If you saw this attack or anything at all suspicious in the moments before and after we would like to hear from you.
