Police investigating a serious road traffic collision in Newark have arrested a suspect.
Emergency services were called to North Gate, Newark, shortly after 11 pm on Sunday after a collision involving several cars.
A woman travelling in one of the cars remains in hospital with serious injuries. Another man was treated in hospital and later released.
Several parked cars were also damaged near the junction with Meyrick Road.
A 20-year-old man was arrested this morning on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
Detective Constable Megan Tyson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a very serious collision and I am pleased we have now been able to arrest a suspect. As our investigation continues, our thoughts remain with the people who were injured in this incident.”
