Detectives have arrested man in connection with a string of burglaries and attempted burglaries in Nottingham.
A number of flats were entered in North Sherwood Street, with attempts made to enter other properties within the complex, earlier this month.
Nothing was reported to have been stolen, however a burglary can still occur even when items are not taken.
Following enquiries officers executed a search warrant at an address in Cedar Road, Forest Fields, yesterday morning (Friday 16 April 2021), where they arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of three burglaries and five attempted burglaries. He remains in custody.
Detective Constable Colin Kirkup, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I’m pleased that we’ve made an arrest in connection with our ongoing investigation.
“It’s also a timely reminder to residents, with the lighter nights and warmer weather, to make sure their homes are kept secure at all times.
“We want to do everything we can to prevent burglaries from happening in the first place. Burglars are often opportunistic thieves, looking for the easiest way of getting into your home without being seen or disturbed.
“We can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure your front and back doors and your windows are kept locked, even when you’re in the house.
“There are also steps people can take to remove the temptation for burglars by keeping possessions out of sight and making it seem like someone’s at home.”
