Arrest after suspected road rage incident in Clifton

A road rage suspect allegedly threatened to kill another driver after punching his window.

The victim was heading along Sunninghill Drive in Clifton when a driver behind was sounding his horn.

He pulled over just before the A453 junction and turned his hazard lights on. The other car then stopped, the driver got out and he punched the victim’s window before going back to his car.

When the victim told him he had called the police he threatened to kill him before driving off.

The incident happened at around 8pm on Saturday (22 May 2021).

Following enquiries police arrested a 37-year-old man on Saturday night in connection with the incident.

Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “These kind of road rage incidents are rare but we are taking this matter seriously and an investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“This must have been a very frightening experience for the victim. While we quickly made an arrest in connection with this report we’d urge anyone who saw what happened or any drivers who may have captured dash-cam footage of the incident to please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 662 of 22 May 2021, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
