Arrest after West Bridgford resident catches man raiding his van

A suspect was arrested minutes after a resident caught a man raiding his van.

The would-be thief ran off after being disturbed by the van’s owner in Henry Road, West Bridgford, shortly after 2am this morning (Monday 15 April).

Police were called and officers arrived two minutes later, with a suspect located and detained in nearby George Street.

The 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted theft and taken into custody for questioning.

Inspector Tim Cuthbert, district commander for Rushcliffe, said:

“Thanks to the swift response of our officers, we were able to locate and arrest a suspect within minutes of receiving this report.  

“We’re working hard to tackle all forms of vehicle crime and we will continue to do everything we can to pursue offenders and bring them to justice.”
