Arrest in West Bridgford as man caught by patrol officers with large amount of Class A drugs and cash

Nottinghamshire Beat Managers have been praised after they used old fashioned policing tactics to arrest man.

Plain clothed officers were out on patrol in Compton Acres shopping centre when they spotted a man acting suspiciously.

The man was searched and a large amount of drugs and cash was seized, as well as two mobile phones.

The man was arrested for possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Neighbourhood Inspector Craig Berry praised his team. He said: “This arrest came about through some excellent old fashioned policing by the West Bridgford Beat managers.

“We know local residents have had concerns with criminal activity being reported in the Compton Acres shopping precinct, so we are pleased with our latest arrest.

“We’ve actively targeting crime hotspots and using plain clothed officers out on foot patrols.

“The man has since been dealt with by force Detectives and has been charged and remanded into custody.”

Lewis Kelly, 28, of Willow Road has been charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 14 December 2020.
