Police found drugs after spotting two men acting suspiciously in Hyson Green.
Plain-clothed officers were patrolling Hyson Green on Monday morning (12 February) when they saw two men acting suspiciously near the junction of Radford Road and Gregory Boulevard.
As officers approached, one of the men ran away and was detained a short time later in an alleyway.
He was searched and found to be in possession of suspected Class A drugs.
During the foot chase, the suspect disappeared from the officers’ view for a few seconds before he was detained. The officers searched the area in case the suspect had discarded any evidence and a small package also containing suspected Class A wraps was recovered and seized.
The other man was also searched and found to be in possession of cannabis and a suspected burner phone.
Both men, aged 24 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.
They have been bailed pending further inquiries.
The arrests were carried out by the Operation Compass team, which tackles drug dealing, begging and anti-social behaviour in Nottingham.
Sergeant Jonathan Pothecary, who leads the team, said:
“A quick response to suspicious activity led to the arrests of these two suspects.
“This is another reminder that dealing drugs will not be tolerated in Nottingham and we will take positive action against anyone involved in this criminality.
“Proactive patrols like this are an important part of our work and it is always a good result when we can take drugs out of circulation and away from causing harm.”
