The reserve says that some paths and causeway are flooded and river conditions are flowing fast.
A spokesperson said:
‘Due to an active flood warning for the River Trent at the reserve, we have a few notices for visitors today:
‘The visitor centre and car park remain open to visitors as normal.
‘The floodgates at Church Lane and The Strand are both currently closed, there is no access between the Reserve and Attenborough village via these points.
‘Church Path and The Causeway are flooded, with water that is above the top of wellies and no clear path edges. We are recommending this area be avoided until water levels subside.
‘River Path is currently passable with wellies though the River Trent is very high and fast flowing so visitors are urged to remain cautious on this route. Conditions are likely to change throughout the day as water levels continue to rise.
‘Further updates will be communicated here as necessary, thank you, and we hope you enjoy your time in nature safely’
