Two prolific shoplifters were arrested in quick succession by a patrolling neighbourhood officers in Beeston.
The men were spotted on Wednesday 9 April and detained on suspicion of multiple recent offences at shops in and around the town centre.
One of the men, 30-year-old Lee Keeton, has since been recalled to prison after breaching the terms of his latest release.
Keeton, of no fixed address, is a prolific shoplifter who was last jailed in November.
He has now been recalled to prison.
Another prolific local offender, 39-year-old Luke Osei, was detained a short time later in connection with two other shop thefts.
Osei, of County Close, Beeston, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to both.
He was ordered to complete 12 days of rehabilitation activity and to pay compensation.
PC Samantha Gledhill of the Beeston Neighbourhood Policing Team said:
“These two men are prolific offenders and a blight on Beeston town centre.
“Their actions are not only damaging to local businesses and to their staff, but are also intimidating to other people visiting the town centre.
“Their behaviour is frankly intolerable and will continue to be met with a very firm policing response.
“Ultimately, we want to help them to address the reasons behind their offending but if they continue to offend in this way, we will continue to lock them up in order to protect the public.”
