Another bin lorry fire has been reported in Nottinghamshire caused by carelessly discarded batteries.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
‘On Thursday morning 24 July crews from London Road and Stockhill attended a council bin lorry fire that had caught alight due to lithium-ion batteries that had been discarded in domestic waste.
‘The waste had to be emptied from the bin lorry onto the street so it could be worked through and extinguished.
‘Please check with your local council or recycling centre for safe battery disposal options. By disposing of batteries correctly it prevents future incidents from happening.’
