Severn Trent will close the Wilford Suspension bridge to remove the locks.
The suspension bridge over the River Trent on Welbeck Road will close between 9 am and 4 pm on Tuesday 7 October.
There will be no access across the bridge during these times.
The work will be carried out by STW contractors to remove the love locks from the bridge.
Severn Trent said:
‘We totally understand why the love locks are there and we think it’s a lovely way to celebrate people’s love and commitment to each other.
‘However, the weight of the locks is affecting the structural integrity of the bridge and are causing some damage.

‘We need to do some work on the bridge in the coming weeks and so we will unfortunately need to remove the locks.’
‘As we know they’re important and have lots of sentimental value, we are giving people plenty of notice to retrieve their own lock before we remove them.’
