A Nottinghamshire man has been jailed for more than two years after admitting a series of thefts and a burglary across the area.
Ryan Monte, 38, of Cinderhill Road, Bulwell, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday (13 April), having pleaded guilty to 11 shop thefts, one burglary and one theft from a person.
The offences included seven thefts from the Co-op store in Lambourne Drive, Wollaton, where Monte repeatedly stole bottles of alcohol without paying. Most of the shop thefts took place in December, with further incidents in August and September.
Four other shops in Bulwell, Kimberley, Eastwood and Hucknall were also targeted, bringing the total number of shop thefts to 11.
Monte also admitted a burglary in Hucknall in May 2024, during which more than £3,500 worth of electrical goods were stolen from a depot. In a separate incident in June 2025, he stole a woman’s handbag.
He was arrested in February, shortly after a police appeal was issued to trace him, and was subsequently charged with the offences.
Inspector Gordon Fenwick, neighbourhood inspector for City West, said Monte had repeatedly targeted shops over a period of time and was also responsible for a burglary and a separate theft offence.
