Police arrested a suspected burglar after finding him in the basement of a Nottingham college building.
Officers were called to Nottingham College’s Adams Building, in the Lace Market, after staff reported an intruder shortly before 7.45am today (4 June).
Neighbourhood officers were quickly at the scene and found a suspect hiding in the basement.
The 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal and taken into custody.
PCSO Solomon Clark, of the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
“Staff were unlocking the premises and called 999 after hearing movement coming from the basement.
“We were quickly at the scene and found a man hiding in the corner of the basement, which had a number of computers and stationery cupboards.
“The man was arrested and he remains in custody for questioning.
“Burglary will not be tolerated by Nottinghamshire Police and we will always do everything in our power to investigate incidents reported to us.”
