Response officers made an arrest after catching a burglary suspect.
Police were called to an empty house in Ollerton after reports that a break-in was in progress.
They heard loud banging coming from inside when they arrived at the address in Stepnall Heights, Boughton.
Officers entered the vacant property to investigate further, at around 3:25 am on Monday (19 October).
Police immediately spotted that lengths of copper piping appeared to have been cut from the radiators.
While the officers inside didn’t find anyone, police waiting outside got a surprise when they saw a man falling towards them from above.
Having leapt out of a second-floor window, the individual landed straight into the arms of the waiting officers below, who duly detained him.
Police also discovered a set of bolt croppers and more lengths of copper piping on the floor during further searches of the empty house.
Officers subsequently arrested the 38-year-old man they’d found at the scene on suspicion of burglary.
Sergeant Steve Pridmore, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Having heard a break-in was in progress at an empty house, the response team made their way straight there.
“While nobody was located within the property, officers outside were in the right place at the right time to – quite literally – catch a suspect.
“That’s after they jumped out of a window from above and inadvertently landed straight in the arms of the officers below.
“Our hope is that the rapid arrest made in this case illustrates to the public just how seriously we take all offences of this nature.”
