The Independent Breweries of Nottingham announce the launch of the inaugural Castle Beer Festival at the historic Nottingham Castle, set to take place on 4–5 April 2025.
This exciting new event, led by local brewers, will showcase over 100 different beers from 10+ local breweries, alongside a selection of local ciders, street food, and live music, all set within the iconic castle grounds.
The festival is all about showcasing Nottingham’s thriving independent brewing scene, allowing visitors to taste an impressive range of locally brewed beers, explore local culinary delights, and enjoy performances from some of the city’s best musicians.
Gates will open at 5 pm each day, and festival-goers can enjoy the relaxed, intimate atmosphere with a £10 entry fee per person. This festival promises a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the very best of what Nottingham has to offer in a unique and atmospheric setting.
Ian Wesley, of Blue Monkey Brewery, one of the independent breweries, shared his enthusiasm:
“We have such an amazing and diverse independent brewing scene in Nottingham. We’ve all talked about celebrating the local range of beers, including craft and cask, and after speaking with Nottingham City Council, we felt that Nottingham Castle would be the perfect venue to bring this vision to life. It’s going to be an incredible event, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone!”
He added, “This festival is about celebrating Nottingham and the independents that make the city what it is. We’re looking forward to something that’s maybe a little smaller than existing beer festivals but really filling it with the best Nottingham has to offer.”
The festival will feature over 10 local brewery bars, serving up a diverse selection of craft beers, lagers, ales, and ciders.
As part of the event’s celebration of all things local and independent, attendees will also enjoy street food from Nottingham’s finest vendors, catering to all and handpicked to pair perfectly with the festival atmosphere. The brewery bars and food stalls will centre on the Castle’s iconic bandstand, where a line-up of local musicians will take centre stage.
Tickets for the Castle Beer Festival will go on sale Friday, 22 November 2024, through Gigantic Tickets.
Cllr Sam Lux, Executive Member for Carbon Reduction, Leisure and Culture at Nottingham City Council, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome this new event to Nottingham Castle, which will celebrate local independent businesses. Nottingham is home to a wonderful array of breweries, and we’re excited to showcase our home-grown talent in the heart of the city. The Castle’s magical aesthetic and atmosphere will offer beer and cider enthusiasts an unforgettable experience in 2025.”
As spring sets in, the Castle Beer Festival promises to be the perfect way to kick off festival season, with a strong focus on community, creativity, and, of course, local beer. Whether you’re a beer enthusiast or looking for a fun day out celebrating all Nottingham has to offer, this event is not to be missed.
