CCTV released in potential arson investigation after flat fire

Detectives investigating a potential arson want to speak to the man pictured in this video.

Emergency services were called to a fire at a flat in Langtry Grove, New Basford, on 16 November.

The flames on the top floor of the three-storey flat were quickly put out by firefighters, around 10.25pm.

None of the occupants at the address are believed to have been in while this was all taking place.

A police investigation has since been launched to determine whether the fire could’ve been lit deliberately.

Officers have now released a video of a man outside the impacted property that night, who they’d like to speak to.

Detective Constable Francesca Coombes, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“While thankfully nobody was injured, this was an incredibly dangerous incident that we’re keen to get to the bottom of.

“We’re still in the process of trying to determine what caused this fire and aren’t ruling out arson at this stage.

“Our officers therefore want to speak to anyone who may have seen something that night which could help our investigation.

“That includes the man pictured in this footage, who we believe could really assist us with our ongoing inquiries.

“Bearing this in mind, we’d ask the man to contact the police, should he see this appeal, while we’d urge anyone who recognises him to do likewise.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting incident 737 of 16 November 2025, or to report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
