Cheapest petrol and diesel in Nottingham revealed – drivers could save £11 a tank

Drivers across Nottingham could save more than £11 on a tank of diesel and £5 on petrol depending on where they fill up, according to the latest local fuel price data.

A snapshot of prices at 39 petrol stations within around five miles of Nottingham shows diesel ranging from 148.7p per litre to 167.9p per litre, while petrol varies by around 10p per litre across the same area.

The cheapest diesel currently available locally was recorded at Jet Main Road in Cotgrave at 148.7p per litre on March 12. Other comparatively low prices include 151.9p at Sainsbury’s Beeston and 152.9p at Texaco Queens Road and Tesco Beeston.

At the other end of the scale, the most expensive diesel price in the dataset was 167.9p per litre at BP Clifton Lane in Clifton. Other higher prices included 165.9p at Texaco Carlton Square and 164.9p at Texaco Meadow Lane and Texaco Westdale Lane East.

The difference between the cheapest and most expensive diesel locally is 19.2p per litre.

For drivers filling a typical 50-litre tank this equates to a difference of about £9.60, while a 60-litre tank could cost more than £11 extra depending on where motorists refuel.

Petrol prices across the same group of stations also show noticeable variation, although the gap is smaller. The lowest petrol price recorded was 132.9p per litre at Texaco Queens Road in Beeston, while the highest was 142.9p at Shell Tollerton.

That creates a local petrol price spread of around 10p per litre, meaning drivers filling a 50-litre tank could pay about £5 more depending on the forecourt they choose.

Supermarket forecourts dominate the cheaper end of the price tables, with Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons and Asda stations featuring heavily among the lowest prices for both petrol and diesel.

The prices represent a snapshot of data recorded between March 10 and March 13 and may change during the day as retailers adjust pump prices.

Fuel price comparison data shows that while national averages provide a broad picture of fuel costs, local differences between forecourts can be significant, particularly where supermarkets compete with independent stations.

For motorists in Nottingham and surrounding areas such as Beeston, West Bridgford, Gamston, Cotgrave and Arnold, checking nearby forecourts before filling up could save several pounds on a single tank.
