A suspected motorbike thief has been arrested after scaling a wall in a failed bid to outrun police.
Officers were called to Maypole, Clifton, Nottingham, at around 9.30pm on Monday (20 November) after reports a motorcycle had been stolen.
It was quickly discovered the vehicle was being tracked and a suspect was still in the area.
When police found the bike on the side of the road a male nearby ran from the scene and was pursued on foot by officers.
The suspect climbed a garden wall but was pulled to the ground by an officer. While dragging the man off the wall, the officer was kicked to the forehead.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and assault on an emergency worker.
Inspector Katie Eustace, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The Operational Support officers on duty on Monday night worked quickly with their local policing colleagues to track down the stolen bike.
“They also showed great team work and determination to pursue and detain a suspect.
“We work hard to investigate the theft of any motor vehicle as we do not underestimate the inconvenience being without a car, motorcycle or business vehicle can cause to victims.
“Our investigation remains ongoing and anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 695 of 20 November, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
