Council prosecute fly-tipper who has to pay £1,200

A resident in Newark was prosecuted by the local council.

A spokesperson for Newark and Sherwood District Council said:

‘Last week, we were successful in our prosecution against Ms Wood from Balderton, Newark. Ms Wood failed to assist officers in the investigation of a fly tip in Balderton in February 2024.

‘It is an offence without reasonable excuse, to fail to provide assistance to an authorised person in exercise of their duties.

‘Ms Wood has been fined £500 with a victim surcharge of £200. We were also awarded £542 towards investigation and prosecution costs. That’s a total of £1,242.
