Conservative County Councillor Roger Upton (Radcliffe on Trent) has pledged to continue pressing Nottinghamshire County Council to help unlock the delivery of a much-needed expanded Health Centre for Radcliffe on Trent after a question he intended to ask at this week’s Full Council meeting was ruled out of order.
Cllr Upton had submitted a question to the Cabinet Member for Transport and the Environment seeking clarification on the steps being taken to address the County Council Highways Authority’s objection to the planning application, how quickly a resolution could be reached, and whether the County Council would work with him to ensure the project can proceed without unnecessary delay.
The question was not accepted because it related to a live planning application.
Despite this setback, Cllr Upton has reaffirmed his determination to do everything possible to help ensure the project continues to move forward.
Cllr Roger Upton said: “I am extremely disappointed that I was unable to raise this important issue publicly at County Council this week, but that will not stop me from working tirelessly behind the scenes to help move this project forward.
“Radcliffe on Trent has grown significantly in recent years, and our healthcare infrastructure must keep pace with that growth. An expanded Health Centre would improve access to GP services, provide modern facilities for patients, and help meet the needs of our growing community and the wider Rushcliffe area.
“I will continue to press Nottinghamshire County Council, engage with the Highways Authority, and work constructively with officers, the Cabinet Member and all those involved to help resolve the outstanding issues as quickly as possible.
“I am determined to ensure that unnecessary barriers are removed so this vital project can progress. Our community deserves healthcare facilities that are fit for the future, and I will continue championing this development until it becomes a reality.”
Cllr Upton has reiterated his commitment to working constructively with all partners involved to help secure a positive outcome and ensure local residents have access to the healthcare facilities they need as Radcliffe on Trent continues to grow.
