Man ‘glassed’ while sitting outside a Nottingham pub

A man has been arrested after another man was reportedly glassed outside a Nottingham city centre venue.

Police said the incident happened at around 8.15pm on Tuesday 7 July, when a man in his 50s was sitting on a bench outside The Thurland in Thurland Street.

The man was reportedly glassed in the head. Police said he did not require hospital treatment.

The suspect left the scene after the incident.

Officers later located a 40-year-old man in Fletcher Gate who matched the description given to police. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.

Police said a small amount of cannabis was found during a search, and the man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug.

The incident comes as Nottinghamshire Police continues Operation Reclaim, a partnership approach aimed at tackling issues affecting the city centre, including weapon-enabled violence.

Chief Inspector Kylie Davies, who is responsible for city centre policing, said: “Officers were quickly on the scene of this incident and arrested a man on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.

“Luckily, the victim did not require hospital treatment.”

She added that police would continue to work with partners where restrictions, including banning orders, were considered appropriate.
