Councillors welcome progress on plans for improved Radcliffe on Trent Health Centre

Local councillors have welcomed progress towards proposals for an improved Radcliffe on Trent Health Centre, with plans expected to come forward to Rushcliffe Borough Council for planning consideration in the coming months.

The proposals, which remain subject to planning approval, would support future GP capacity in Radcliffe on Trent and reflect more than two years of positive collaboration between local health partners, Rushcliffe Borough Council and local councillors.

Discussions to date have focused on how the Health Centre could be improved to better support local services, including the potential for additional clinical space and facilities to help increase appointment capacity and improve access for patients, should planning permission be granted.

The work has also explored how Section 106 funding from housing developments could be used to help fund the project, ensuring that growth in the village is matched by investment in local healthcare infrastructure if the proposals are approved.

Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council and local ward councillor for Radcliffe on Trent, Cllr Neil Clarke, said the progress reflects a joined-up approach to planning and community needs.

“This is a great example of how development and infrastructure should go hand in hand,” said Cllr Clarke. “Work has been progressing collaboratively for some time to look at how health services can be supported locally, and it is encouraging that proposals are now expected to come forward for planning consideration.”

Deputy Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council and local divisional councillor for Radcliffe on Trent, Cllr Abby Brennan, added:

“This has been about careful, responsible planning and partnership working. While any proposals are still subject to planning approval, it’s positive that progress is being made behind the scenes to support an improved Health Centre for the future.”

Councillors stressed that no final decisions have been made and that any plans will follow the proper planning process before any next steps are taken.

Further updates will be provided at the appropriate time once a planning application has been submitted and considered.
