A police cordon is currently in place in Carlton following the discovery of a suspected unexploded shell within the garden of an address.
Police update: The ordnance has now been recovered by the Explosives Ordnance Disposal team and will be safely disposed of. The road has now reopened and we thank the public for their patience.
Cavendish Road is currently closed between the junctions of Highgate Close and Wheldon Avenue.
An Explosives Ordnance Disposal team has been deployed to the area to safely dispose of the item.
People are advised to avoid the area while officers are at the scene.
