The incident happened near Loughborough.
East Midlands Railways said:
‘Unfortunately, there has been a person hit by a train near Loughborough earlier today.
‘This is between Loughborough and East Midlands Parkway and is disrupting our trains on the Sheffield/Nottingham/London St Pancras and the Leicester/ Nottingham/ Lincoln routes.
‘At present the emergency services and Network Rail are on on site. Some of the lines have now re-opened with the other lines expected to open by 10:30.’
‘Trains running through the area in both directions may be delayed by up to 10 minutes between Loughborough and East Midlands Parkway.
Our priority now is to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our planned timetable to resume at around 10:30.’
