Dog owner charged after breaching court order

A man has been charged after a dog that is subject to strict restrictions was seen without a lead or muzzle in a public place.

Police were called to Elstree Drive, Beechdale, Nottingham, to a report of three dogs that were allegedly out of control with no lead on, shortly after 6.30pm on Sunday (11 August).

Officers located the dogs and their owner in nearby Softwood Mews a short time later.

One of the dogs – a brown Pitbull type breed – had been made subject to a Contingent Destruction Order on 31 July 2024, having attacked another dog.

The order stipulated the dog must be kept on a lead and be securely fitted with a muzzle in public areas.

A man from Nottingham, has been charged with failing to comply with a court order.

The 32-year-old was granted bail and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 28 August 2024.
