Police in Rushcliffe spent an hour in East Leake as part of the Christmas drink drive operation.
14 vehicles were stopped, one vehicle seized for driving offences and one arrest for drug driving was made.
In early December, the Rushcliffe Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) stated that drink driving and general road safety checks would be a specific enforcement priority across the borough throughout December, supported by the force’s Road Crime Team. Residents were urged not to drink and drive as officers increase visibility and stop checks.
During busy enforcement activity in Rushcliffe villages earlier this month, officers conducted a substantial number of drink and drug-drive stops as part of the Fatal 4 safety campaign. Several drivers showed alcohol in their system, though none exceeded the legal limit on that occasion; one driver did, however, fail a roadside drug test and was taken into custody.
Nottinghamshire Police also placed a wrecked car display in Nottingham city centre to publicly warn about the consequences of drink driving, reinforcing the seasonal messaging about enforcement and risk.
