Video: Extinction Rebellion suspend giant bath plug from Trent Bridge

Members of Nottingham Extinction Rebellion who have camped outside County Hall on the banks of the River Trent suspended a giant plug over the river today 30 April.

A group of the climate activists on the bridge waved flags as others guided the giant bath plug into position, a banner attached to Trent Bridge read: ‘Pull the plug on climate lies”.

The organisation started its camp, which it described as ‘illegal’ on Saturday afternoon, and they plan to remain there until this Sunday 2 May.

‘The people of this country deserve to be told the truth.

‘But the government and national media are failing us.

‘We’ve had enough of greenwashing and it’s time to expose the lies of the big oil companies and the complicity of the banking sector.

‘We also are here at County Hall specifically because we want the County Council to listen to growing public concern and respond to our demands.

‘We want them to give this the absolute priority it needs.’

Earlier today the activist designated County Hall a ‘climate crime scene’ stringing blue tape similar to police tape across its entrances.
