Crews from five stations tackled a house fire in Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
“Their worst day, is our everyday” is how a paramedic described this incident which we attended on Sunday 14 August.
‘It’s a shocking scene and one full of sadness.
‘Crews from Arnold Fire Station, Ilkeston Community Fire Station, Stapleford Fire Station Long Eaton Fire Station and London Road Fire Station attended this incident and worked in some absolutely blistering hot conditions.
‘Eight firefighters in breathing apparatus sets entered the property and were faced with a serious blaze.
‘Using firefighting hoses and a positive pressure fan they forced their way inside to look for people.
‘No people were found but sadly a number of cats and dogs couldn’t be saved.
‘While I thank and acknowledge the hard work that our crews and blue night partners put in to this incident, I would still urge the public, to check you have a working smoke alarm.
‘We would recommend having one working smoke alarm on each floor of your property, and you can find lots of advice on our website.
‘We are unable to share any further information at this time, and thank you for understanding.’
