Firefighters are expected to remain throughout the day at a fire involving smouldering wood at commercial premises on Hallam Fields Road in Ilkeston.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said the on-site team is providing machinery to help separate the wood fuelling the fire.
Crews are currently monitoring conditions and using one main jet.
The fire service has asked people to continue avoiding the area where possible. Anyone who sees or smells smoke is advised to keep windows and doors closed.
