Police are actively investigating and appealing for witnesses after responding to reports of people launching fireworks at each other in Nottingham.
Officers were called to Midland Way, Radford, around 10.20 pm yesterday (Tuesday, 5 November), after initial reports of disorder involving a large group of people.
It was reported that fireworks had been launched at surrounding buildings and parked vehicles, as well as people shooting fireworks at each other.
Multiple police units were deployed to the incident, with fireworks being aimed at officers and other emergency service colleagues who responded.
No serious injuries or damage were reported.
The crowds were dispersed, but further disorder was later reported in the city centre, with fireworks being launched at officers. Police again dispersed the crowds and brought things under control.
Thankfully, no serious injuries were sustained.
Chief Inspector Mike Ebbins, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I want to reassure the community that a thorough investigation is underway, and we are pursuing several lines of inquiry that will ensure those responsible are tracked down, caught, and dealt with.
“We won’t tolerate such appalling behaviour, which puts people at risk of harm, including our officers and fellow blue light colleagues who were in attendance trying to keep people safe, and we’ll seek to prosecute anyone involved.
“There will be increased patrols in the affected areas tonight, providing reassurance for the public, as we continue with our investigation.
