A number of arrests have been made as police continue to investigate two robberies in Nottingham city centre.
The first robbery took place in Old Market Square on 18 January. Three youths punched and kicked a 15-year-old boy before stealing his gloves.
Investigating officers identified three suspects after reviewing CCTV footage, along with videos posted on social media.
Three boys, aged 12, 15, and 15, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery. They were each interviewed and released on bail with conditions, pending further investigation.
The second robbery occurred inside a mobile phone shop on Clumber Street on 26 February. A member of staff was punched after taking out his phone to call 999, having suspected that a man was about to steal a device from the store.
The staff member’s phone was stolen during the incident, and he was taken to hospital for treatment.
Following inquiries, a 40-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, 9 March, on suspicion of robbery. He was also interviewed and released on bail with conditions, pending further investigation.
Two of the four arrests were made by a neighbourhood policing team during routine patrols in the city centre.
Sergeant Rob Palethorpe, who is overseeing both investigations, said:
“Both these incidents were traumatic for the victims, and we are doing everything we can to bring the offenders to justice.
“As we have repeatedly said, we will not tolerate anyone who comes into Nottingham and engages in criminal acts or behaviour.
“We want the city centre to be a safe place for everyone. Therefore, we will continue to robustly investigate reports such as these and track down suspects.”
