Four Nottinghamshire suspects charged with ‘taking a deer at night’

Four males from the Worksop area have been charged with taking a deer at night after an animal was found in a vehicle stopped by police.

 

An 18-year-old man, a 22-year-old man, both from Langold, Worksop, and a 29-year-old man from Worksop, have each been charged with taking a deer at night contrary to Section 3 and 9 of the Deer Act 1991.

A 15-year-old who can’t be identified due to his age has also been charged with the same offence.

The charges relate to a deer being found in the rear of a vehicle which had been stopped by Lincolnshire Police officers at Dry Doddington in the early hours of Sunday 7 January.

They will appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 8 August.

Section 3 of the Act states:

Taking or killing of deer at night.

‘…If any person takes or intentionally kills any deer between the expiry of the first hour after sunset and the beginning of the last hour before sunrise, he shall be guilty of an offence.’
