Ashfield District Council is inviting residents to give their views on proposed changes to car parking arrangements across the district, including plans to increase free parking at Kings Mill Reservoir.
A public consultation has been launched on amendments to the district’s Parking Order, with feedback being accepted until 27 March 2026.
Under the proposals, Sutton Lawn and Kingsway Park car parks would be formally added to the Parking Order and offer up to six hours of free parking. The council says this would allow enforcement action to be taken against inconsiderate or unauthorised parking at the sites.
Plans also include increasing the free parking period at Kings Mill Reservoir from one hour to six hours. The change is intended to support increased visitor use linked to recent and ongoing developments at the popular leisure destination.
The council is also proposing the introduction of permit-only parking at several locations, including Darlison Court, Byron Business Centre, Kingsway Lodge and Ada Lovelace House. The permits would restrict parking to authorised site users.
Full details of the proposed Parking Order 2026 are available on Ashfield District Council’s website. Residents and businesses can submit objections or representations by emailing the council before the consultation deadline.
