GMB Union defends Nottingham jobs as council ‘already cut to the bone’

GMB union has today warned decision-makers in Nottingham against driving through job cuts.

The warning comes as Council leaders consider cost-cutting measures in the wake of the authority’s Section 114 notice.

Adana Godden, GMB Organiser, said:

“After decades of austerity, our city is already cut to the bone with vital services across Nottingham struggling with staff shortages.

“Council funding in Nottingham has been cut by more than 40 per cent since 2010; our union won’t stand by quietly as our members pay the price for this.

“GMB members keep Nottingham running and our priority in the coming weeks will be defending them, their jobs and conditions”.
