A large area of grassland has been destroyed following a fire in Colwick Woods.
Friends of Colwick Woods and nearby Colwick Country Park shared images showing the aftermath of the blaze and said wildlife, habitats and the surrounding woodland had been put at risk.
Visitors are being asked to remain vigilant during the coming days and weeks because of the continued risk of fires in dry conditions.
Anyone who sees smoke, flames or somebody deliberately starting a fire should call 999 immediately.
People visiting the area are also being urged to take litter home, particularly glass bottles, dispose of cigarettes safely and report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.
In its update, Colwick Country Park said: “Protecting Colwick Woods is a community effort. We all have a role to play in looking after this special place for its wildlife and for future generations.”
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
