A suspected drug dealer tried to escape from police through an open window while he was handcuffed during a house raid.
Officers carried out a warrant at a property in Lammas Gardens, The Meadows, after receiving reports of potential drug activity inside.
After making their way inside the house during the surprise raid at around 8.30 am on Wednesday (26 July), the city south Operation Reacher team found and detained three suspects.
At that point, one of the suspects – who had just been cuffed by officers – tried to escape by attempting to wriggle their way out of an open bedroom window.
They didn’t get far however, before they were dragged back inside the room by the police, who then carried out a search of both the suspect and the property.
This led to a bag containing around 100 individual wraps of suspected Class A drugs being discovered and seized by the officers.
Two men, aged 19 and 38, and a 40-year-old woman, were all subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
PC Graham Collington, of Nottinghamshire Police’s city south Operation Reacher team, said: “Warrants like the one carried out here play an integral part of what we do in Op Reacher and allow us to follow up reports of criminality and identify those who could be involved.
“This includes those involved in the sale and production of drugs, which we clearly don’t want to see anywhere near our communities – whether that be in The Meadows or anywhere else across our county.
“Thanks to this planned warrant, we were able to arrest three suspects and seize a bag containing large quantities of Class A drugs, which could have been sold on to infect the area, had we not discovered it in time.
“It is precisely because we want to prevent this type of harm from happening that we devote so much time towards eradicating drug activity from our communities, so we were pleased to make this discovery.”
Neighbourhood Inspector Steve Dalby added: “This was a great result for our Operation Reacher team, who do a fantastic job identifying and following up reports of criminality in the city south area.
“The proactive police work they and the rest of the city south neighbourhood policing team do each day – whether that be through warrants such as this, patrols, or other operations – makes a real difference to our area.

“We simply will not tolerate anyone who thinks they can produce or deal drugs within our communities and will always look to take action and shut these operations down.
“If anyone suspects that drug activity might be happening close to where they live, it is very important that they let us know so that we can act immediately. Any information can be reported to the police by calling 101.”
