Huge 514-tonne 8 mph abnormal load to cause delays on M6, M42, A42 and M1

Drivers are being warned to expect delays next weekend as a huge abnormal load travels from Rugby to Goole.

The 81-metre-long, 514-tonne load will travel at around 8mph and is expected to cause disruption on the M6, M42, A42 and M1.

The vehicle is 6.5 metres wide and will fully occupy the A42, meaning other vehicles will not be able to pass while it is on that section of the route.

Motorists are being urged to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys or avoid the route where possible.

The load is due to depart Rugby at 9am on Saturday, July 4, before travelling along the M6 to the M42 at junction 8.

It will then continue to M42 junction 10 before heading northbound on the A42 to M1 junction 24.

On Sunday, July 5, the load is due to leave M1 junction 24 at 11am and travel north to M1 junction 28 before continuing its onward journey to Goole.

Road users are advised to expect slow-moving traffic and delays along the route.
