Officers have released an image of a man they wish to trace following an attack which left the victim with serious eye damage.
A man, aged 45, has already been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm in relation to this incident.
However, police are eager to trace a second man who could help them with their inquiries.
The incident happened just before 7pm on Sunday 12 April near to Flint’s Stores in Ransom Road in St Ann’s. The victim, aged 43, was outside the shop when he was attacked.
He was punched, kicked, and suffered serious eye damage. He was sent to Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment.
Officers have now released an image of a man that could help them with their investigation and are calling on the public’s help to identify him.
Sergeant Madeline Flint-Foster, who is investigating the incident, said:
“This was a brutal attack outside a shop, and we are determined to catch those responsible and ensure the victim receives the justice he deserves.
“The victim was left with a serious eye injury as part of this attack and had to attend Queen’s Medical Centre.
“We have carried out multiple lines of inquiry since the incident occurred in April including an extensive CCTV trawl and taking witness accounts.
“We have also arrested a man in connection with this incident.
“We are releasing an image of a man today that could help us further our investigation and are calling on the public’s help to identify him.
