The proposals will support extra GP capacity in Radcliffe on Trent and reflect more than two years of positive collaboration between local GPs, health partners, Rushcliffe Borough Council, and Radcliffe Borough Councillors Abby Brennan, Neil Clarke MBE and Roger Upton.
Local Councillors have welcomed the grant of planning approval for an improved Radcliffe on Trent Health Centre.
This is the start of a huge transformation of Radcliffe on Trent town centre, spearheaded by Conservative-led Rushcliffe Borough Council, with £1 million allocated to improve the town centre.
Discussions have focused on how the Health Centre could be improved to provide better local health services, including added clinical space and facilities to help increase appointment capacity and improve access for all patients. Following the resolution of concerns raised by Nottinghamshire County Council, approval has now been granted.
Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council and local ward councillor for Radcliffe on Trent, Cllr Neil Clarke, said the progress reflects a joined-up approach to planning and community needs.
“The granting of planning approvals is a great step forward,” said Cllr Clarke. “Work has been progressing collaboratively for some time, and we now look forward to work starting on site.”
Deputy Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council and a local ward councillor for Radcliffe on Trent, Cllr Abby Brennan (C), added:
“This grant of planning approval is great news for the provision of an improved Health Centre for Radcliffe. We have been working hard as councillors to get this delivered and thank residents for working with us and the team at Radcliffe on Trent Health Centre.”
Cllr Roger Upton (C), County and Borough Councillor for Radcliffe on Trent, said:
“The granting of planning approval for this major improvement to Radcliffe Health Centre is a significant milestone, and I now look forward to the building work starting on site as soon as possible. Given the large increase in housing we have been forced to take, with even more planned due to the Labour Government’s increased housing targets, which we continue to push back against, an expanded Health Centre is needed.”
