A burglary suspect was detained in under half an hour, say police.
Police report that a 999 call cwas received at the force control room after an intruder broke into a bungalow in Strelley.
Having climbed in through a window, the burglar stole cash from the homeowner’s purse before fleeing from the scene.
This happened on Wednesday (9 September) morning, with someone quickly discovering the break-in and raising the alarm and calling the police at 10.19 am.
At 10.45 am and a 53-year-old man matching the description of the intruder had been tracked down nearby and arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Officers from the Broxtowe response and City West neighbourhood policing teams worked with the control room to identify and find on the suspect.
Chief Inspector Iain Blackstock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a great example of our different policing teams working together to get a good result in rapid time.
“That was possible thanks to some great teamwork between our officers in response, neighbourhoods and the force control room.
“After receiving that initial burglary report to our control room, the officers involved showcased great communication skills to share and act on the information we had.
“The end result was a suspect finding themselves in handcuffs 26 minutes after that first report came in, which was good going and hopefully provides the public with some reassurance.”
