Ongoing IT issue causing significant pressures at NUH overcrowding at A&E and delaying discharges

Nottingham University Hospitals says the the issue causing overcrowding in ED

A spokesperson said:

An ongoing IT issue is significantly impacting our ability to process and report on blood samples, slowing down our clinical decision making. This is delaying our ability to discharge people and resulting in long ambulance waits and overcrowding in our Emergency Department (ED) at the Queen’s Medical Centre.

‘We are taking additional steps to maintain safe services, including bringing in more staff and seeking further support from our health and social care partners.

‘We expect that some planned procedures and outpatient appointments will need to be postponed tomorrow (24 November).
