Joint fire investigation launched after body found in Clifton flat

A joint fire and police investigation is taking place to establish the cause of the fire.

A joint investigation is under way to establish the cause of a flat fire in Clifton last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene following the report of the blaze in the top floor of the flats in Angell Green at around 8.05pm.

Sadly a body was found within the property.

The formal identification process is yet to have taken place and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “These are tragic and very sad circumstances and my thoughts are with the family of the person who has died.

“We are continuing our investigation to establish the cause of the fire. At this time we are treating the death as unexplained.

“We would encourage anyone with information to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 699 of 5 October 2020.”
