West Bridgford’s brand new Lidl superstore opened today Thursday 24 February.
The retailer has opened at the Wilford Lane Retail Park, the first premises to open there and the first discounter to open in West Bridgford.
The shop incudes a bakery, toilets and a large area for parking
Opening hours for the site are 8 am – 10 pm Monday to Saturday, and 10 am–4 pm on Sundays.
30 new job roles have been created at the site as well as other staff moved to the area.
Store manager Rob Cale ( pictured ) told The Wire:
‘We’re overjoyed to be opening here in West Bridgford at a brand new store.
‘We can’t wait to meet everyone.’
The new £20 million retail park also includes Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, MediVets and Pure Gym which are also planned for the area.
Lidl GB has announced that it will be taking the environmental standards of its fresh produce suppliers to the next level of sustainability excellence through the LEAF Marque environmental assurance scheme.
The move will see its entire British fresh produce supplier base achieving LEAF Marque certification by the end of 2023.
Lidl opened its 900th British store in Liverpool in January and remains on track for 1,100 stores by end of 2025.
The supermarket continues to expand at pace, having opened over 50 new stores in the last 12 months alone, contributing to its target of 1,100 stores by the end of 2025 in Great Britain.
The discounter was recently crowned the fastest growing bricks and mortar retailer over the Christmas period for the second year running, with sales growing +2.6% YoY and +21% on a two-year basis.
