Police arrested four teenagers and seized a machete following a fight in the street.
Officers were called to Berridge Road West, Forest Fields, Nottingham, around 4pm on Monday (26 May) after reports a group were involved in an altercation.
The group dispersed as police arrived but officers gained descriptions of the offenders and carried out searches of the area.
A further call was received a short time later that a machete had been dropped underneath a car in nearby Brushfield Street.
The weapon was quickly recovered by officers and will be destroyed.
Two men, aged 18 and 19, as well as two 17-year-old boys, were arrested on suspicion of affray and remain in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Response teams always react quickly to any report of this nature.
“The officers involved worked efficiently to gain descriptions and initial accounts from witnesses, trace these four suspects and recover a weapon.
“Detectives will now be carrying out thorough investigations into what happened.
“Violence like this can always expect to be met with a determined response from the force and I hope members of the community welcome these arrests.
